Set the display theme and density
Goal
You'll tune how PLACEHOLDER Cloud looks for the data work you do: pick a colour theme (light, dark, or follow the OS) and a data density (comfortable or compact). Compact tightens the row heights and padding on the data-heavy tables — the Results list, data-asset column metrics, and similar grids — so you can see more rows per screen without scrolling, the way a steward living in a results table all day wants. Both choices are per-browser preferences: they're remembered in the browser and applied before the first paint, so there's no flash on reload.
Prereqs
- Any signed-in role. Theme and density are personal display preferences, not org settings — every seat (including billing-only and viewers) can set them, and they affect only your own browser.
Steps
Switch the colour theme
- Look at the bottom of the left sidebar, just above Settings and Log out. There are three small segmented controls side by side (theme, density, and the Advanced/Simple display mode — see Use Simple mode for the third).
- The first control toggles the theme: Light, Dark, or System (follow the operating system's light/dark preference). Click an option to apply it immediately.
Switch the data density
- Beside the theme control sits the Density control with two options:
- Comfortable (the default) — the roomy spacing PLACEHOLDER Cloud has always used.
- Compact — tighter row heights and cell padding on the data tables, so more rows fit on screen. Text stays at the same readable size; only the spacing tightens, and line spacing stays legible.
- Click Compact to apply it immediately. The Results table and the other data grids re-flow to the tighter spacing without a reload.
Charts (the validation-trend bars and the row-count sparkline) keep their normal size in both densities by design — compacting a chart squashes the plot rather than fitting more in, so density applies to tables, not charts.
Verify
- Picking Dark flips the whole app to the dark palette right away; picking System then changing your OS appearance flips the app to match without a reload.
- Picking Compact visibly tightens the Results table rows; switching back to Comfortable restores the roomy spacing.
- Reloading the page keeps your last theme and density choices — they're remembered per browser, and there's no flash of the old appearance on load.
